TROPANG TNT coach Jong Uichico sounded satisfied with new Commissioner’s Cup import David Simon despite the Texters losing a 108-100 decision in his debut game against Alaska on Wednesday night.
“He gave us the numbers that we needed,” Uichico said of Simon, who registered 35 points, 19 boards, four blocks, two assists, and one steal against eight turnovers in 42 minutes.
Uichico cited the Texters’ lack of an import in two of their first four games as a factor in their 1-3 win-loss start to their title-retention campaign.
With an import in tow, the Texters, he said, are still trying to build chemistry.
“Wow we have one and he gives us numbers, so we’ll fix it from there,” Uichico said of the 33-year-old Simon.
The Texters, though, had a chance against the Aces, only to squander an early double-digit lead.
“They made a run somewhere, puro fastbreak sila,” Uichico said. “They shot some threes.”
“We’ll just fix that and we’ll be alright,” he added.
