MERALCO hopes to give Javee Mocon's PBA career a fresh start after acquiring the veteran forward in a recent trade with NLEX.
Coach Luigi Trillo describes Mocon as a ‘good kid’ who he had admired from a distance since his college days with the San Beda Red Lions in the NCAA.

“I was a big fan of his game when he was in San Beda,” said Trillo of Mocon, who won four NCAA seniors championships and two more juniors titles with the Mendiola-based school.
“Very happy to have Javee. He does the dirty work and he can rebound. He can play multiple positions 3 and 4.”
Mocon landed at Meralco in a three-team, five player trade. He was initially shipped by NLEX to Converge along with Jonnel Policarpio for the duo of Schonny Winston and Kevin Racal, before the FiberXers sent him to the Bolts for rookie guard Kurt Reyson and a Season 52 second-round pick.

The 30-year-old Mocon had a promising start to his PBA career when Rain or Shine selected him as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 draft and went on to form a lethal 1-2 combination with Rey Nambatac.
But his star lost some glitter when he found himself on the move after being traded to Phoenix, and later with NLEX.
In his last season with the Road Warriors, he averaged career-lows of 7.3 points and 5.7 rebounds.
Trillo hopes to see a different Mocon playing in a Meralco jersey.
“He can be one of our defensive stoppers. And he has some offense, too,” added the Meralco coach.
