MORE than just a fan of the sport, Doug Kramer takes his passion for mixed martial arts to the next level.
The Barako Bull center is an avid fan of the fast-growing sport and finds the time to be at the gym to do some MMA stunts and moves as part of his conditioning program to keep himself in tip-top shape.
"I enjoy watching (MMA) plus it's a way for me to condition myself," said the former Ateneo star.
Kramer, who has ties with Submission Sports, would always take time to go to arenas and show his support for MMA cards with brothers-in-law Patrick and Pichon Garcia, who also fights in some of the local cards like PXC.
Kramer said fight fans should look beyond the blood and violence that have been associated with the sport to really appreciate it, saying it's a good way to challenge one's self and earn respect from others.
As a fan, Kramer hopes that in due time MMA will soar in popularity in a country where basketball is still king.
"With all of the events like URCC and PXC, in time everyone will enjoy MMA as much as they love basketball," said Kramer, who lists Eric Kelly and Eduard Folayang among his favorite fighters.
