CAGAYAN DE ORO – Mark Barroca refused to disappoint the fans who made him the surprise top vote-getter in this year’s PBA All-Star festivities.
The Star playmaker, who received 32,793 votes to beat fan favorites Scottie Thompson and James Yap, among others, finally arrived at the Misamis Oriental capital on gameday against Gilas Pilipinas on Wednesday.
Barroca came in late after celebrating his 31st birthday with friends and family on Tuesday, coming in a day late than the whole delegation.
The Zamboanga native arrived in time for practice – of the dance-off against the national team – in the afternoon.
“Matindi ang pangangailangan,” Barroca said with a chuckle as the dance-off stakes a P100,000 prize for the winning team and P50K for the losing side.
