RR Pogoy is picking up the scoring cudgels for TNT KaTropa, but he takes greater pride in his defense.
The Cebuano guard came away with 26 points on Sunday night, including the two biggest baskets of overtime as the KaTropa spoiled the season debut of Magnolia, 80-75, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Pogoy went 10-of-24 from the field as he sustained a hot streak that made him a marked man among opposing defenses, but the Gilas Pilipinas mainstay said he isn't used to being a top option on offense.
Eh kasi defensive player nga ako,” said the former Far Eastern University standout.
Pogoy fell just two rebounds shy of a double-double. He later deflected the credit, saying Jayson Castro's assist that led to Troy Rosario's game-tying basket late in regulation was of bigger importance.
“Kailangan talaga namin manalo kaya siguro ganun nilaro namin.
