TNT Katropa has tapped the services of one of the top gunners in the NBA to serve as its shooting coach.
Craig Hodges arrived in the country to share his knowledge and shooting skills with the Katropa in time for the coming PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
With no dominant big man inside, the Katropa have transformed into a run and gun team, a strength they want to further hone by hiring the 58-year-old Hodges, who led the NBA in three-point shooting percentage three times.
“We hope he can help us further develop and improve our shooting,” said team manager Gabby Cui.
Hodges was part of part as Michael Jordan’s support crew in the Chicago Bulls’ back-to-back championship team in 1991 and 1992.
“He also gives us great insights with his Chicago Bulls championship experience,” added Cui.
In his prime, Hodges was a deadly marksman in the NBA, where he was one of only two players – along with the great Larry Bird – to win the Three-Point shootout contest of the All-Star weekend three consecutive times, ruling the event starting from 1991.
He also holds the record for the most consecutive shots made in the Three-Point shootout with 19, and once held the mark for most points scored in a single round with 25.
Cui said Hodges will be with the Katropa for at least two weeks.
