CALVIN Oftana missed the opening game of TNT in the PBA 50h Season Governors' Cup on Sunday as he continues to recover from injuries that bothered him in the latter stage of the Commissioner’s Cup, and subsequently kept him out of the recent window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Oftana said it will still take some time for him to come back to practice, meaning Sunday’s contest against Macau won’t be the last Governors' Cup game that he will sit out.

“Recovery pa lang. Siguro mga one week or two weeks bago makabalik sa ensayo. So far, okay naman,” Oftana said.
Oftana dealt with a hamstring strain and a toe injury during TNT’s runner-up finish in the Commissioner’s Cup.
“‘Yung sa sugat ko (toe), medyo okay na siya. May tine-take at nilalagay pa. ‘Yung nire-recover ko ngayon ‘yung sa strain ko, strengthening, mga one week to two weeks bago maka-ensayo uli,” Oftana said.

Oftana said the rest will be beneficial since TNT has been in the finals for five consecutive conferences, with Gilas Pilipinas stints in between.
“Tuluy-tuloy kasi ‘yun. Konti lang ang pahinga. May Gilas. I think eto ‘yung time na makapag-recover talaga fully sa injuries at sa iniinda. Happy ako na maraming opportunities sa mga kasama ko na makalaro. Excited din ako makabalik na,” Oftana said.
“Malaking bagay ‘yung nakapagpahinga. Magiging excited ka pagbalik mo,” he added.
