TNT replacement import Mike Myers showed up for Gilas practice on Thursday to help the national team in a practice that was missing a couple of players.
But if things fall according to plan, he can also serve as Gilas import for the upcoming William Jones Cup in Taipei next month.
Coach Chot Reyes bared they're thinking of including the Maryland Eastern Shore standout in the Gilas team to annual Taipei competition which Gilas last won in 2013.
"Well he's here. As you know he's the back-up for Joshua Smith. If things materialize, we're thinking of bringing him with us in the Jones Cup," said Reyes.
Myers remains on standby in the ongoing PBA Commisioner's Cup Finals as TNT confirmed that it will still be Game One hero Joshua Smith who'll be suiting up for Game Two on Friday.
Myers said he's ready if tapped for the Jones Cup.
'Yes I'll be ready to suit up. I'll be ready to practice with the team, I'll practice, I'll be ready for the games," said Myers.
But is he up for naturalization?
Reyes bared that anyone they bring in to train with the team is an option for naturalization and Myers isn't an exception.
"Yeah, for now everyone that we could bring in, of course, are possible candidates. The urgent thing is for us to get an import or a naturalized player possible for the Jones Cup."
Myers is certainly not closing the door on that happening.
"Yeah if that's what they want me to be, I'll be ready to play here. Ready to help and show my talent."
