FROM Tropang Giga to Tropang 5G.
That will be the new moniker of TNT when it goes for a title in the PBA Philippine Cup 49th Season, based on the partial schedule released by the league on Monday.
The moniker change comes on the heels of the Tropang Giga bagging the Commissioner’s Cup crown just last Friday when they beat Barangay Ginebra in seven games.

Now, it’s going to be the Tropang 5G when it seeks for a grand slam come the Philippine Cup where it will open its campaign against NLEX on April 23.
The change to Tropang 5G hopes to be a good omen for the team that is looking to become the fifth squad in PBA history to win a Grand Slam.
Crispa, San Miguel, Alaska, and San Mig Coffee are the other teams that won a grand slam in the PBA.
The ballclub is no stranger to changing monikers since their days when they were still named Mobiline.
They first became the Cellulars in 1996 before becoming the Phone Pals in 1997, a moniker they carried even when the team changed the brand it carried to Talk 'N Text.
It also became the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters, TNT Tropang Texters, Tropang TNT, and TNT Ka-Tropa, before becoming TNT Tropang Giga in 2020.
