TNT and NLEX face off on Friday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in a battle of the top two teams in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
The KaTropa and the Road Warriors figure in a marquee match-up at 7 p.m.
TNT is looking to sustain its unbeaten run, while NLEX tries to cement second place in the team standings.
The KaTropa won their seventh win in as many games after escaping Alaska in overtime last week, 99-93, to become the first team since 2013 when the league became 12 teams to start off the conference with a 7-0 record.
TNT coach Bong Ravena sees the win over Alaska as a good test to the squad.
“But kung ito 'yung mga games na will make us better, so be it na,” said Ravena, who will be facing his son Kiefer for the first time as TNT coach. “Kung dikit lagi ang laro namin, so be it. Ang importante, manalo. We know how to play a close game, madadala namin later on.”
The Road Warriors face another test as they stake their 5-1 win-loss record. NLEX made it two straight wins with a 117-111 victory over Columbian.
In the first game, Columbian faces Phoenix Pulse at 4:30 p.m.
The Dyip dropped to a share of fifth place with Magnolia with a 3-4 card following the loss to NLEX last Wednesday.
They will be facing a Fuel Masters squad that will be parading a new import in Alonzo Gee as they look to get back to winning after an 80-70 loss to NorthPort last Saturday that dropped their record to 2-5.
