New acquisition Chris Javier will not join TnT Tropang Giga in the PBA bubble, getting placed on the injury/reserve list.
TnT team manager Gabby Cui revelaed the move five days before the Philippine Cup restart on Sunday at the Angeles University Foundation gym.
“Chris was left behind because he’s in the injured/reserve list,” said Cui in a short text message.
The Tropang Giga tapped the 27-year-old big man from the free agent pool (with rights to salary) after being released by Blackwater.
Javier was supposed to fill in the spot vacated by former MVP Kelly Williams, whose sudden retirement a month before the resumption of the season took TnT by surprise.
But the 6-foot-5 Javier has not fully healed from a previous injury and the Tropang Giga would not rather risk him by bringing the former University of the East stalwart with them inside the bubble.
There’s no regret on the part of TnT management however on its decision to get Javier’s services despite still having two months left in his previous contract with Blackwater.
At least, the playing rights on the ‘stretch 4’ from Binan, Laguna still belongs to the franchise, according to Cui.
“Yes, we’ll talk to him again before (his contract expires),” said the TnT team manager.
