ANTIPOLO CITY – Terrence Jones dropped 41 points in his first game in the PBA to send TNT to a 102-87 win over NLEX on Wednesday in the Commissioner’s Cup at the Ynares Center.
The former NBA player actually had a double-double as he grabbed 14 rebounds in a rousing debut for the KaTropa, who also notched a win in their conference opener.
The ex-Houston Rockets cager already had 23 points in the first half as the KaTropa led, 52-39, midway in the game. They even led by as many as 25 in the ballgame.
“Inexpect namin na ‘yung import namin, maka-adjust agad sa laro dito at sa team namin para ‘yung chemistry at familiarization amongst themselves,” said TNT coach Bong Ravena. “Buti nag-deliver. Hopefully, our next game, maka-adjust pa siya lalo.”
Anthony Semerad had 11 points, and Kelly Williams added 10 points and nine rebounds for TNT, which outscored NLEX, 34-16, in the second quarter to pull away.
Jones had 19 points in that second quarter to lead the KaTropa, who also had a 12-0 run in that pivotal period to set the tone for the victory.
Curtis Washington had 18 points and 16 rebounds, while Poy Erram had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Road Warriors in a losing effort.
