MIKEY Williams captured the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup Finals MVP award after TNT ended the reign of Barangay Ginebra on Friday night.
Williams won the second Finals MVP trophy of his PBA career after a scintillating performance which he capped with a 38-point explosion highlighted by nine threes in the title-clinching Game 6 victory.
He was named as the Honda-PBA Press Corps Finals MVP after averaging 22 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in the best-of-seven finals. The Fil-Am guard connected on 31 of his 69 three-point attempts in the series - nine in Game Six alone.
His first Finals MVP came in the 2021 Philippine Cup held inside a semi-bubble in Bacolor, Pampanga at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This time, he had to do it in front of a pre-dominantly Ginebra crowd of 13,588 on Friday night.
His final trey of the series proved to be the dagger - a three-pointer from the key by using the glass with 1:15 left in Game Six to give TNT the lead for good.
