TNT active consultant Mark Dickel said the KaTropa plan to keep Terrence Romeo as trade rumors continue to swirl around the flamboyant guard.
Dickel said TNT has no plans of shipping Romeo elsewhere, saying the KaTropa are already deep in preparation for the coming season with the former Far Eastern University standout very much part of the plan.
“I don’t know any move. He is at practice. He is practicing. We plan to have him on the team and get ready for the next conference,” said Dickel on Wednesday after the PBA Draft Combine at the Gatorade Hoops Dome.
There is talk that Blackwater is willing to trade the No. 2 pick overall in the coming PBA Rookie Draft for the high-scoring guard.
“I speak to him every day. Everything is fine. He is getting ready for the conference,” the New Zealander added.
For his part, TNT coach Bong Ravena said Romeo missed a couple of practices, but only because he was ill.
“Honestly, ‘yung kay Terrence, I have no idea what’s the latest. I don’t know what’s happening. As far as I know, galing siya sa sakit. Nakausap ko siya the other day, he came from a flu,” said Ravena.
“Nagpa-practice siya pero nung huling week (hindi). And then that thing happened na nangyari ‘yung mga rumors na ‘yun,” said Ravena.
Ravena though admitted the team is looking for a high pick as the KaTropa have no first-round pick.
“Unang-una, sana makakuha kami ng pick. I mean early picks. Hopefully. We are trying to look for bigs. Kung wala, sa wings and sa guards naman. Maybe before this draft comes,” said Ravena.
