TnT coach Norman Black undaunted by prospect of facing tormentor Barako Bull again in playoffs

    Jun 10, 2014

TALK ‘N Text coach Norman Black is undaunted about the possibility of facing Barako Bull again in the PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals.

The eighth-running Energy stunned the league-leading Tropang Texters, 88-74, on Tuesday night, to qualify for the playoffs, behind standout import Allen Durham, who flirted with 30-30 numbers of 28 points and 29 boards just two days after registering a triple-double in his debut.

And the prospect of the two teams meeting again in the quarterfinals is possible, either in the 1-vs-8 matchup or the 2-vs-7 pairing.

But the Tropang Texters’ main focus is their last two games in the regular season, starting with defending champion San Mig Super Coffee on Friday.

“You’re talking too far down the road,” Black said. “But if we play them again, we’ll know how to play them a little bit better. Durham just arrived so we haven’t really seen too much of him.”

“Obviously, now we know he’s a very good player and he rebounds the basketball very, very well,” the multi-titled American mentor added.

It was evident on Tuesday night as the Energy, behind Durham, outrebounded the Texters, 59-41.

“Durham was very difficult to handle in the boards and they played well defensively,” Black said of the Energy, who limited the Texters to 32.4-percent shooting. “So I thought they did a good job and deserved to win the game.”
