NICK Hornsby is being deployed by TNT as import for the resumption of the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup, while continuing to wait for the full recovery of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
The Tropang 5G announced on Thursday the impending arrival of Hornsby, who recently played for Hangtuah Jakarta in the Indonesia Basketball League.
TNT team manager Jojo Lastimosa later said that Hollis-Jefferson is still continuing to heal from the Achilles injury he suffered while playing for Meralco in the EASL last year.
RHJ, though, is already priming for a return and had already played for in a tuneup game against Jordan.
“RHJ still rehabbing. Hopefully, he’s ready by quarters,” said Lastimosa.
Hornsby with TNT
Hornsby is arriving on Thursday night, but will not play in the Tropang 5G's PBA on Tour game against Rain or Shine on Saturday in Candon City, Ilocos Sur.
Hornsby is also replacing Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson, as he and Rondae recently returned to the U.S. due to the passing of their grandmother.
“Grieving both of them in the U.S. We need an import ASAP and not one of them can be here. Grandma will be buried October 2,” said Lastimosa.
