TNT KaTropa extended its winning streak to six games after defeating Rain or Shine, 102-81, on Wednesday night in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Terrence Jones completed a triple-double of 33 points, 21 rebounds, and 13 assists as the KaTropa strengthened their hold first place with an 8-1 win-loss record.
TNT led by as many as 25 points on the way to dealing Denzel Bowles and Rain or Shine its fifth loss in eight games.
“I think defense won us the game. We played good defense. Pinaghandaan namin ‘to lalo na for us, it will start on defense,” said TNT coach Bong Ravena.
Jones capped an 8-0 run with a trey to give TNT a 50-38 lead. The KaTropa then opened the third period with an 11-0 blast for the game’s biggest lead, 67-42.
Rain or Shine was able to cut the gap to seven points entering the fourth, 73-66, but Jones completed a three-point play off a flagrant foul one by Beau Belga to stop the Elastopainters' momentum.
RR Pogoy had 19 points while Jayson Castro adedd 15 points to back up Jones.
Denzel Bowles scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Javee Mocon chipped in 19 points and 10 rebounds in a losing cause for the Elastopainters.
