A NEPHEW of former ABA and NBA player Artis Gilmore will be the import of the Titan Ultra Giant Risers, completing a cast of predominantly tall reinforcements for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup that is set to start on March 11.
Titan Ultra team owner Bryann Calantoc told SPIN.ph that they decided to go for the 6-10 Michael Gilmore after careful evaluation of their import options.

“Finding an import who is 7-foot tall is very hard these days. Karamihan naka-kontrata na rin sa Europe o kaya sa ibang parts ng Asia. It’s understandable kasi bibihira rin naman ang may ganung height. So, in demand talaga,” said Calantoc.
The 37-year team owner bared that getting a 6-10, 210-pound sweet-shooting winger will complement the team especially that there is still an ongoing negotiations with their 7-0 local slotman Greg Slaughter.
“Ongoing pa rin ang nego namin kay Greg pati yung inquiry sa PBA. Inuna lang namin itong import and the designation of new members of the coaching staff. Baka kasi ma-fine kami if maabutan kami ng start ng conference at wala pa rin kaming import,” he said.

“But I believe, Gilmore will be a good fit especially if we can fasttrack a deal with Greg. It will instantaneously give ceiling to the team,” added the Pureblends Corporation president.
Gilmore is a mainstay of the Belgian national team and has played most of his life in Europe after going undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft. He had a stint with the Wisconsin Herd and Raptors 905 in the NBA G League before playing in Mexico, Sweden, Greece, Italy, China and Turkey.
Gilmore’s last tour of duty was with the Jiaozuo Cultural Tourism team in the Chinese Basketball League.
