VIC Manuel showed up for Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals between San Miguel and Magnolia, but doubts if he’ll be able to play for the Beermeen in the best-of-seven title series.
The veteran forward known as the ‘Muscle Man,’ is coming off a procedure to clean his knee of meniscal fragments, calcium deposits, and to repair a possible meniscal tear.
Manuel has just one practice session
Manuel, 36, was out for more than two months following the procedure and just began practicing with the team on the eve of Game 1 of the finals.
“Kaka-ensayo ko lang nung isang araw,” he said upon his arrival at the Mall of Asia Arena.
While Manuel said he already feels good about his knee, it remains to be seen whether he’ll be utilized by coach Jorge Gallent and play his first game this season.
'Wala pa sa timing'
“OK naman ako. Pero hindi ko rin sure kung palalaruin nila ako, kasi yung laro ko wala pa sa timing,” he added.
During the pre-finals presser, Gallent said both Manuel and Romeo (ankle injury) are currently day-to-day for San Miguel, which goes to the title series carrying a nine-game winning streak.
