THERE’S bad news and good news for Barangay Ginebra as far as the health condition of Justin Brownlee is concerned.
While the status of the 36-year-old import is uncertain on Friday when Game 4 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals is played, chances of Brownlee returning to the series is not being discounted, according to coach Tim Cone.

“Justin is doubtful to play (Game 4), but he hasn’t been ruled completely out yet,” said Cone in a short text message on Thursday.

The beloved Ginebra import suffered a dislocated right thumb in their 87-85 loss Wednesday night which could force the Kings to play all-Filipino at the Ynares Center as they try to level the best-of-seven series which the Tropang Giga currently leads, 2-1.

Brownlee was checked by a hand specialist the day after the incident, although no medical bulletin has been released by the team so far.

The Gilas naturalized player went out with 19 points, four rebounds, and six assists in the Game 3 setback. He had 17 in the first half which ended with Ginebra on top, 48-42.
But despite without an import, the Kings lived up to their never-say-die mantra and were still leading 82-80, heading to the final two minutes.
“Nakita namin kaya talaga, e,” admitted big man Troy Rosario as he talked about the fight the Kings gave on the Tropang Giga following the injury to Brownlee.

“Breaks of the game lang talaga, yung last shot ni Rey (Nambatac). Coming off ilang offensive rebounds, hindi lang talaga namin na-secure yung pinaka-importanteng rebound na yun,” Rosario added.
