IF the choice was down to him, Tim Cone would've wanted to have Game 7 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals played on Friday as scheduled despite Barangay Ginebra losing on Wednesday night to the Bay Area Dragons, 87-84.
Cone was surprised upon learning the do-or-die game was moved to Sunday, still at the Philippine Arena.
“I would have preferred [it] to be Friday. I’m a little disappointed it’s on Sunday. But that’s out of our control, so we’ll worry about Sunday,” said the Ginebra coach of the sudden change in the schedule of a best-of-seven series that end up tied at 3-3 following the Game Six win before a record crowd of 22,361 at the Big Dome.

The three extra day rest would be a big benefit for the banged-up guest team from Hong Kong, considering import Myles Powell, point guard Glen Yang, and forward Hayden Blankley are all playing through injuries.
If there’s anything Ginebra can take advantage of, the break can be good for team captain LA Tenorio's recovery from a abdominal strain and big man Japeth Aguilar, wh is nursing a gastro-related health issue.
“It gives our guys a little extra time to rest and rethink what we want to do with Powell,” said Cone. “But like I said, it’s out of our control.
“We’ll just do what we can.”
