TIM Cone described Barangay Ginebra’s PBA Commissioner Cup debut in three word: 'Terrible, terrible, and terrible.'
The multi-titled coach took to social media to rue the way the Kings played in a 108-89 rout at the hands of unbeaten Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
As in most Ginebra losses, Cone declined interview requests following the game in which the league’s most popular ballclub trailed by as many as 21 points.
But he later posted on his Twitter account @manilacone to express his displeasure over the way his team performed in its first game in the mid-season conference.
He also apologized to Ginebra fans about having to bear with the Kings’ pathetic showing.
“Terrible, terrible, terrible,” said Cone. “I’m sorry you had to watch that.”
“No excuses.”
Ginebra import Charles Garcia has yet to fully acclimatize to the country’s warm weather and struggled in his first game in the league. He scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished off eight assists, but was 8-of-18 from the field.
Big man Japeth Aguilar was the only consistent player on the floor for the Kings with 28 points and 12 rebounds.
But Cone assures the Kings will definitely be back.
“We’ll be better. A lot better,” he said.
