BARANGAY Ginebra coach Tim Cone is about to return to join the team's preparations for the upcoming PBA 48th season Commissioner’s Cup.
Cone is set to come back to Manila after a well-deserved vacation in the United States following Gilas Pilipinas’ conquest of the 19th Asian Games gold medal in Hangzhou, China.
“I’m leaving in 24 hours,” Cone said on Sunday.

Even before the Asian Games title victory, Ginebra has been practicing with assistant coach Olsen Racela supervising the build-up but also without the team’s main stars in Gilas players Scottie Thompson and Japeth Aguilar.
Ginebra though will continue to prepare for the new conference without an import with Justin Brownlee facing sanctions for failing a doping test after Gilas Pilipinas won the gold medal in the Asian Games.
Brownlee could be out for a maximum of two years to a minimum of one month to serve a suspension to be imposed by the World Anti-Doping Agency after it was determined that he had Carboxy-THC in his urine sample.
“No definite import yet,” Cone said when asked if Ginebra has finalized who will be their replacement import.
Ginebra set for November 17 debut
Ginebra will have ample time to prepare for the Commissioner’s Cup as it opens its title defense against Converge on November 17 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Gin Kings are seeking to add another trophy to their collection after winning their 15th championship during the 2022-23 Commissioner’s Cup where they defeated the Bay Area Dragons in the series that reached the full seven games.
