BARANGAY Ginebra coach Tim Cone is keeping faith in Charles Garcia amid a growing clamor to recall resident import Justin Brownlee ahead of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup encounter against Blackwater on Friday night in Biñan, Laguna.

Garcia has yet to lead the Gin Kings to a victory in two games, tallying 15 points on 3-of-11 shooting from the field and 9-of-11 from the foul line, and nine rebounds in almost 39 minutes in their 96-92 loss to TNT KaTropa last Sunday.

But Cone is staying patient with the 6-foot-9 big man, at least for their road game against the Elite at the Alonte Sports Arena that tips off at 7 p.m.

“You make your own judgments on him tomorrow, but he’s our guy and we’re going to go with him,” Cone told SPIN.ph. “We like him.”

“I know the fans are disappointed because when you start out O and two, the finger automatically points at the import, but it’s a lot deeper,” he added. “The problems are a lot deeper than that. We expect – when we start solving all the problems – people will start to appreciate him.”

Garcia insisted he has adjusted to the weather and is adjusting better with his teammates.

“No worries. It’s a process,” the 29-year-old cager said. “We’re still trying to figure each other out. I’m the new face in this team, so it’s a process, and we’ll get through it.”

Asked about the clamor from fans to replace him, Garcia would rather focus on the people who are sticking with him.

“I’m tired of that. That’s their opinion. I don’t got nothing to say about no fans,” Garcia said.

“I don’t have nothing to prove to nobody, you know,” he added. “Coach Tim, coach Kirk (Collier), and the rest of the coaches believe in me, that’s the only people I got to prove. Outside of that, irrelevant.”
