FOR failing to contain their actions and emotions, Ginebra coach Tim Cone and Meralco forward Cliff Hodge were fined P10,000 each by the PBA Commissioner's office in the ongoing Governors Cup finals.
Hodge was slapped the penalty for the flagrant foul 1 he committed against rookie guard Scottie Thompson, while Cone was cited for the same amount for issuing statements detrimental to the league.
Both happened during Game Three of the best-of-seven title series.
Cone in particular criticized officiating for what he termed as referees being 'eagled-eyed' on Ginebra guard Sol Mercado, who was slapped with two personal fouls in the first quarter while trying to contain import Allen Durham. He eventually went to the showers in the final 38 seconds of the match the Bolts won, 107-103.
Two other Meralco players were fined P5,000 each for infractions committed in Game Two of the series.
Veteran Reynel Hugnatan was called for flopping, while bruising forward Kelly Nabong was caught with a flagrant foul 1 against import Justin Brownlee.
The Kings currently leads the series, 3-2, with the chance to wrap up the finals in Game Six on Wednesday and end an eight-year title drought.
