TIM Cone wasn’t happy with Converge scoring against Barangay Ginebra at garbage time of their PBA Philippine Cup game on Friday night.
And he made sure his Converge counterpart was aware of it.
“I wasn’t happy about that last play when they took that last lay-up after relaxing. They relaxed like they’re not going to do it and then they did lay-up,” said Cone once he emerged from the Ginebra dugout following the 106-96 loss to the FiberXers.

Cone was seen confronting Converge coach Delta Pineda after they shook hands at midcourt at the final buzzer.
Pineda later explained the rationale for the play, stressing the quirks of the quotient could possibly have a say on their playoff chances especially with teams in the upper half of the standings bunched closely together..
But not to take away the victory from Converge, Cone said the team deserved the win.
“They’re a good team, they’re going to be a team to reckon with this conference,” said the Barangay Ginebra.

Cone was also blown away with the way rookie Juan Gomez De Liano torched the Kings for 32 big points, including that last-second layup.
“De Liano looked like the best player in the league tonight,” said Cone in describing the No. 2 overall pick in the last draft.
