BARANGAY Ginebra coach Tim Cone was thrown out of Game Two of the PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals after getting two technical fouls in the fourth quarter of their 101-97 loss to Magnolia on Monday.

Cone got two successive technical fouls after continuously complaining to the referees with 9:18 left in the fourth quarter. The ejection came when Aljon Mariano lost possession of the ball against Mark Barroca and the ball going out of bounds. Initially, one of the referees called it Ginebra ball only for the game official to change it seconds later.

Cone went berserk after the call, forcing to referees to call a technical foul. The PBA champion coach continued to complain, and the referees sent him off for another technical foul seconds later.

Cone politely declined to speak to reporters following the defeat that sent the Kings to a 0-2 hole heading into Game Three on Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

“He was just frustrated,” said del Rosario. “It wasn’t the first time that it happened. I guess it fired up the players also. We made a run. ‘Yun nga lang, we missed a couple of looks to send the game into overtime. Sayang. It came out short.”

Despite a 0-2 deficit, del Rosario said the team still believes that the Kings can come back from the hole.

“We will talk about it tomorrow. We still have faith in our players and the character of the team because of past experiences. We will be okay,” said del Rosario.
