ITS failure to retain the PBA Governors Cup title should only motivate Barangay Ginebra to go for the ultimate prize next season.

Coach Tim Cone hopes the Kings’ ouster in the semifinals of the season-ending meet at the hands of the Magnolia Hotshots would spur the team to come back stronger and contend for the Philippine Cup.

“Hopefully, we’ll use it as motivation going to the next conference,” said an obviously disappointed Cone after a 112-108 loss put an end to Ginebra’s season and denied it of a shot of winning the Governors Cup championship for the third straight year.

“We’ll move forward, move on from it,” added the champion coach.

The league’s 44th season kicks off on January 13, with defending champion San Miguel Beer gunning for an unprecedented fifth straight All-Filipino championship.
