THE job of San Mig Coffee’s ballboy is safe.
The assurance was made by no less than San Mig Super Coffee coach Tim Cone, moments after completing his second career grand slam victory in the PBA.
Cone was furious when San Mig ballboy Junjun Rillo got a technical foul in the first half for complaining after Marc Pingris was called for stepping on the baseline.
To drive his point, Rillo sprawled on the floor and used his hand to measure the distance between Pingris’ foot to the baseline.
The technical foul led to a Jeff Chan a free throw.
Fortunately for Rillo, his technical foul didn’t cost San Mig as the Mixers defeated Rain or Shine, 92-89, in Game Five to complete just the fifth grand slam in league history.
When asked by Spin.ph about the incident after the postgame interview, Cone made the assurance that his job is safe.
“He’ll be around,” Cone, drenched with water during the celebration, assured Spin.ph.
