SCOTTIE Thompson said he expects Jio Jalalon to once again complete a triple double with the way he is playing in the PBA of late.
Last October 10, Jalalon tallied his first-ever triple double as a PBA player when he tallied 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists in Magnolia’s 133-99 romp over Blackwater.
Thompson, of course, was the least surprised.
Back in their NCAA days, Thompson and Jalalon notched triple doubles with regularity in a 2015 season to remember for the stars of Perpetual Help and Arellano, respectively.
Thompson though already has a head start against Jalalon, having completed three triple doubles in his PBA career.
“Siyempre for me, hindi na ako nagugulat. NCAA, kaming dalawa ‘yung all-around ang laro. I think para sa akin, more to come para sa kanya. Expected ‘yan,” said Thompson on Thursday during TAG Heuer’s re-opening of its concept store in Trinoma Mall where he and Jalalon were presented as brand ambassadors.
In spite their battles in the NCAA and in the PBA, Jalalon said he has developed a friendship with Thompson which is why he is also honored to be with him as one of the ambassadors of the brand.
“Pagdating naman off the court, magkaibigan talaga kaming lahat. Pagdating sa court, trabaho lang tayo. Ganun naman natin sa basketball,” said Jalalon.
Incidentally, Thompson’s Barangay Ginebra will be facing Jalalon’s Magnolia on Sunday in a battle for the top spot in the eliminations. The two sister teams currently share first place with Alaska on 7-2 records.
Magnolia though will be facing TNT first on Friday.
Thompson said a long break is beneficial to the Kings. It is also an advantage to be able to watch the Hotshots in their Friday game against the KaTropa at the Ynares Center, he added.
“Very tough game against a very tough team. ‘Yung long break namin, sobrang laking bagay for preparation sa kanila. Nakikita namin ‘yung games nila especially me, pinapanood ko talaga ‘yung mga games nila,” said Thompson.
Jalalon said winning against TNT is vital for the Hotshots' bid for the top spot.
“Maganda naman ang ensayo namin, napag-usapan ‘yung mga plano namin. Bukas malalaman kung ano ang sitwasyon,” said Jalalon. “Kailangan namin bukas ‘yung game. Kapag matalo pa kami, baka ma-pressure pa kami ng Ginebra.”
