SONNY Thoss had the unenviable task of trying to limit reigning Best Import Denzel Bowles in the semifinal series against San Mig Coffee, and now the Alaska big man braces for more of the same against Vernon Macklin when Alaska takes on Ginebra in the finals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The 6-foot-7 Thoss explained he doesn’t mind doing the dirty job, noting that each small contribution adds up to a total team effort in the end.
“This team is just relentless. We have guys who want to win, no matter how ugly it (the win) looks,” Thoss told Spin.ph ahead of Game One on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“No matter if we just chip in two points, one rebound or just make a good screen, I love the spirit. I just hope it doesn’t stop here.
“We’re just focused on winning. Now we’re three wins away (from the PBA title). We just need to stay focused, sharp and humble and stick to the game plan,” added the 31-year-old Thoss, who is also a member of the 15-man Gilas national training pool.
