THREE-time champion Talk ’N Text and Alaska look to bounce back from defeats when they clash on Thursday in the PLDT myDSL-Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Game time is 5:45 p.m.
The Tropang Texters (1-1) dropped a low-scoring 63-77 decision against bitter rival Petron Blaze Boosters as they continue to miss the services of injured veterans Ranidel de Ocampo and Ryan Reyes.
But with the tournament still a long way to go, coach Norman Black is confident they can slowly work their way back, particularly on the defensive end while waiting for De Ocampo and Reyes to recover from calf strain and hamstring injuries, respectively.
Danny Seigle, a new Talk ’N Text acquisition, is expected to join the team next week after joining his first practice with the Texters on Wednesday.
Alaska is coming off a 93-97 loss to underrated Barako Bull and Aces coach Luigi Trillo will definitely be keeping his guard up against Talk ’N Text despite its injury woes early in the season.
“They are still a potent team,” Trillo said.
“I’m sure they will come out with a better effort since they are coming from a loss to Petron.”
Alaska (1-2) took Talk ’N Text to a fierce six-game semifinal series battle in last season’s Philippine Cup.
Talk ’N Text went on to advance to the all-Filipino Finals, sweeping Rain or Shine, 4-0 en route to its third straight Philippine Cup title.
