TERRENCE Romeo said his “confrontation” with RR Pogoy was as just an exchange between two friends during Game Three of the PBA Philippine Cup.
During the first half of the Beermen’s 96-86 win over the KaTropa, Romeo was seen approaching his former TNT teammate Pogoy after converting a shot and giving him a stare down in the process in a series that had its share of emotional and physical moments.
But Romeo made it clear the stare down is nothing as the two are close friends.
“Wala sa akin. Niloloko ko lang si Pogoy,” said Romeo.
Pogoy had the same sentiments.
"Nagkukulitan lang naman kami ni Terrence," the TNT star insisted.
In the battle between two former Far Eastern University standouts, Romeo emerged as the winner with the Beermen moving on to the semifinals after three tough games against the KaTropa.
Incidentally, Romeo eliminated his former team that traded him during the offseason to the Beermen. Romeo, however, insisted it is all business for him against the KaTropa.
“Normal series lang naman ‘yun. TNT is TNT. Alam naman natin na competitive ‘yung team na ‘yan. Buti nakapag-ready kami sa kanila. Maganda ‘yung ginawa nilang scouting. Buti nakapag-adjust kami,” said Romeo.
Despite the lopsided win in Game Three, Romeo said facing TNT was not an easy task on their way to moving to the semifinal round where the KaTropa will face Phoenix Pulse.
“Hindi biro kalaban ang TNT. Maganda rin ‘yung game plan nila. Grabe ‘yung pressure defense nila. Nahirapan din kami. Kinailangan din namin ng mga bagong plays para mabigyan sila ng ibang looks,” said Romeo.
Romeo is now preparing himself for a semifinal series with Phoenix Pulse where they will play in a best-of-seven showdown.
“Kailangan lang mag-focus at one game at the time,” said Romeo.
