TERRENCE Romeo lamented the dribbling violations called against him that factored in his so-so debut for TNT KaTropa in a 128-114 win over GlobalPort in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday night.
The new Texters recruit was called for double dribble in three straight possessions late in the fourth quarter, prompting him to have a word with the referees during and after the game.
He was still seeking answers long after the match.
“Siguro may nakikita yung referee na talagang nakikita niya siguro yung sa galing ibang planeta eh,” Romeo said. “Hindi ko alam kung ano, so siguro next time, mag-aadjust ako, kasi ewan ko kung 'sang planeta siya nag-referee before, eh wala akong magagawa.”
“Pero ‘di bale, adjust na lang ako, sana maka-pasyal ako sa planeta nila next time,” he added.
Romeo committed five turnovers overall apart from making just four of his team-high 13 shots for a dismal 30.9-percent shooting . He still finished with 11 points, three boards, two assists, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes as a starter.
“Wala pa talaga sa shape kasi yun talaga problema ko kahit sa tune-up games namin, mabilis pa ko mapagod,” the three-time scoring champion admitted. “Ganun din sa game namin ngayon, naninibago pa ko. Hindi ko alam kung kailan pa ko mapapagod.
“Hindi parang dati na simula umpisa hanggang matapos yung laro, ganun pa rin yung energy ko,” he added. “Ibang-iba talaga. Kailangan mabalik ko yun. Hopefully, bago kami makarating sa gusto namin marating.”
Nevertheless, he was happy to see the Texters romp to victory despite his sub-par showing.
“Masaya. Sobrang saya,” Romeo said. “Kakaiba yung atmosphere sa bago kong team. Tuwang-tuwa ako na part na ako ng TNT. Lahat nagtutulungan, lahat nag-aangat.”
“Kapag may nado-down, nandiyan yung kapwa ko teammates para i-cheer up ka and di mo na kailangan mag-isip ng marami sa game dahil lahat ng teammate mo magagaling,” he added.
