DON'T tell Terrence Romeo that he's a 'jinx' to San Miguel Beer.
The flamboyant guard finally got his first victory in an SMB uniform after the Beermen's 93-79 trouncing of Blackwater on Wednesday night in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.
"Masaya," said Romeo as he finally got the monkey off of his back.
The three-time scoring champion finally looked confortable in his 24 minutes on the floor, showing glimpses of his old form while compiling 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a block.
But the numbers are the least of Romeo's concerns. He said his lone priority is to contribute to San Miguel's bid for a fifth straight all-Filipino championship.
"Gusto ko lang mag-basketball, manalo, makatulong sa team," he said. "Masaya ako na kahit papaano, nakatulong ako sa team. Masaya din ako kasi kita na natin yung team effort."
Romeo, though, would be the first to acknowledge that the Beermen still needs to fix a lot of things if they want to get themselves back in top form.
"Marami pa kaming dapat ayusin. Marami pa kaming dapat i-correct. Di magiging madali ang mga next games namin so kailangan namin mag-focus," he said.
San Miguel returns to the court on Sunday against Magnolia at Smart Araneta Coliseum in a rematch of last year's finals.
"Yung game na to, makakalimutan na namin. Titingnan namin yung mga pagkakamali namin tapos pagdating sa next game, sana ma-scout namin ng maayos yung Magnolia and ma-execute namin yung plays namin."
