DIGOS –Terrence Romeo only needed one good ankle to prove he’s still one of the best shooters of his generation.
The TNT KaTropa star, recovering from a sprained left ankle, carried his tandem with Atty. Mans Carpio to rule the special three-point shootout that served as appetizer to the PBA All-Star game between the Mindanao selection and Gilas Pilipinas on Wednesday night.
Romeo scored 24 of the duo’s 33 points to beat out the pair of Kenneth Duremdes and Bobby Pacquiao, who combined for 27 points.
Romeo heated up early, knocking down all but one of his five shots – including the two money balls – in the first rack to set the tone for his sizzling performance that was just three points shy of Duremdes and Pacquiao’s output combined.
"Nagpapanalo sa amin si Terrence. Sabit lang ako," said Carpio, husband of Davao mayor Sara Duterte.
Allan Caidic, a favorite to win sidelight with Presidential Assistant Bong Go, wound up in third place with just 22 points.
Scottie Thompson had an off night in his hometown as the Ginebra star only scored seven points to finish in last spot with Major Michael Sabsal with just 18 points.
