DAVAO – Terrence Romeo will see if his ankle is healthy enough for him to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas in the PBA All-Star game against the Mindanao selection on Wednesday night in Digos at the Davao del Sur Coliseum.
The TNT KaTropa star was deemed in danger of missing the entire All-Star week after spraining his left ankle in the first half of the Texters’ Commissioner’s Cup matchup against Blackwater last week.
Romeo admitted his ankle remains sore as he arrived in the President’s hometown for the first leg of the annual extravaganza, and is considered a game-time decision for the 7 p.m. affair.
“Masakit pa eh,” Romeo said. “Pinapakiramdaman ko. Kailangan munang tingnan kung pwede ilaro o hindi pa. malalaman ko (mamaya) kung kaya.”
At least the flamboyant playmaker still made the trip, being part of the entire weeklong event – as a member again of the Smart All-Star for the next leg in Batangas on Friday, before suiting up for the Visayas All-Stars in Iloilo on Sunday.
“Excited,” the Cebu native said. “Magkakaroon na naman kami ng chance mapasaya yung mga taga-Digos, Davao, mga taga-province na hindi kami o yung ibang mga PBA players na madalas nila makita.”
If healthy, Romeo mentioned he could also be part of the legends shootout with a government official in another sidelight of the Mindanao All-Star leg of the event sponsored by Phoenix Fuel with Phoenix Pulse Technology.
