GLOBALPORT star Terrence Romeo was in no celebratory mood even with the Batang Pier gaining second place and moving a win closer to the playoffs in the PBA Philippine Cup after demolishing NLEX, 110-96 on Friday at the MOA Arena.
Romeo once again put on a show against the Road Warriors in scoring 32 points on 12-of-23 shooting with five rebounds and four assists, to improve to 5-3, tied for second with Rain or Shine after the Elasto Painters lost to the league-leading San Miguel team (7-1) in the second game of the Friday double-header.
But the flamboyant guard briefly celebrated the big win as a bigger clash with the Beermen awaits the Batang Pier in their next game. Romeo eyes their match against San Miguel as the true test of their character.
“Kailangan ‘wag namin isipin yung panalo namin dito. Hindi naman sa minamaliit namin yung NLEX pero kailangan yung goal namin is mapunta dun sa number one or number two, so hindi kami pwede matuwa dahil natalo namin NLEX,” said Romeo.
“Kumbaga after one day celebration, next day back to focus na kami kasi next game namin is San Miguel, number one sa PBA ‘yun,” he added.
Romeo also stressed that this is not the time to be complacent as they aim to measure themselves against San Miguel on January 21 in Lapu Lapu City.
