THE PBA won't be handing out a summon letter to San Miguel Beer gunner Terrence Romeo, who is expected to be fined nonetheless following his ejection in Game 2 of the Philippine Cup finals Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Commissioner's Office said there won't be a need for Romeo to personally appeear at the league office in Libis, Quezon to explain his side regarding the two technical fouls he recieved midway in the fourth quarter that led to him being tossed out of the game.
But since it was not a flagrant foul penalty 2 infraction, the fine could only be minimal, according to Commissioner Willie Marcial.
"Baka mas mababa," he curtly said.
Suspension is also out of the question as Romeo is expected to see action in Game 3 set Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
An ejection caused by an F2 infraction merits a fine of as low as P20K.
In this case however, Romeo was sent out of the game for excessive complaining to officials that led to him being hit with two consecutive technical fouls.
The incident happened in the final 6:23 mark and the Beermen comfortably ahead, 96-80.
Romeo was dribbling the ball downcourt when he was bumped hard at centre court by Mark Barroca.
Following the whistle, the San Miguel star passed the ball a bit strong to referee Peter Balao, who fortunately was able to catch the leather.
Romeo then began complaining to the referees that led to his two technical fouls.
The league's three-time scoring champion wad obviously furious and had to be pacified by teammates and even team officials led by board of governor Robert Non before being led to the dugout by assistant coach Peter Martin.
