TERRENCE Romeo is likely to escape suspension but not a fine after taking a swing at LA Tenorio during the hot-tempered Ginebra-GlobalPort quarterfinal game in the PBA Commissioner's Cup.

The GlobalPort star is set to be summoned by the Commissioner's Office for the incident that marred Ginebra's 96-85 win over the Batang Pier on Tuesday night.

Officials of the Batang Pier said they are just awaiting an official letter coming from the league on when the 25-year-old Romeo will appear before Commissioner Chito Narvasa.

[See Flop? No, it wasn't, insists LA Tenorio]

But a league source said Romeo can expect a huge fine for hitting Tenorio on the side as they fought for position during a rebound play, for which he was slapped a flagrant foul 2.

"Definitely there's a fine, but no suspension," said the source.

League insiders said the flagrant foul 2 merits a penalty 'in the vicinity of P20,000,' which could go up if the league considers his beligerent attitude after he was thrown out.

Tenorio and coaches Tim Cone and Franz Pumaren face automatic fines for the technical fouls they got during the commotion.
