TERRENCE Jones on Wednesday showed how goos he is in TNT’s big win over Barangay Ginebra in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
On the night when RR Pogoy hit 10 three-pointers, Jones showcased his all-around game by finishing with 17 points, 14 rebounds, 16 assists and six blocks in the KaTropa's 104-96 victory over Barangay Ginebra.
The former NBA player, who has now scored 40 or more points in three games, said there was a concious effort on his part to dish out the ball more, having developed a growing trust in his teammates.
“I just seen a lot of double teams very early,” Jones said. “I just want to get my teammates involved. We’ve had a lot of games in a row now that I’ve just been continuing on growing and believing in my teammates and finding them in open positions to make sure they are comfortable shooting that shot.”
One of the recipients of Jones’ pin-point passes was Pogoy, who torched the Kings with 38 points in the victory that propelled the KaTropa to joint first place with Blackwater and NorthPort on 5-1 records.
“That’s my guy,” Jones said. “I tell him to shoot the ball everytime he touches it and today, he had a great game. It’s going to be those nights that they are double-teaming me and I believe in my guys 100 percent that they will knock down those shots. And Roger did that tonight."
Jones said Pogoy will integral to TNT's campaign moving forward.
“I think he is a great shooter and I find him in spots I know where he likes to shoot it. The corner, the wing and he believes in those shots. That’s what we have to do to make sure we continue on winning,” said Jones.
