TERRAFIRMA goes for a mammoth upset in its PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinal clash against San Miguel on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The match is set for 4:30 p.m., with the eighth-seed Dyip aiming for a semifinal berth against the top-ranked Beermen.

Terrafirma positioned itself for an upset after a 106-95 win in the first game last Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

With another victory on Wednesday, the Dyip could become the fifth team in league history to reach the semifinals as the No. 8 seed. The last time a No. 8 team defeated a No. 1 was when NorthPort triumphed over NLEX in the 2019 Governors’ Cup.

Terrafirma coach Johnedel Cardel hopes for the same effort as in the first game.

"The important thing is we have to be a team to beat them. We need to fight every quarter," said Cardel.

For the Dyip to pull off an upset, they must replicate their performance from beyond the arc, where Terrafirma shot 15-of-40 from three, with Isaac Go nailing six.

In the second game, Rain or Shine faces TNT at 7:30 p.m. in Game Three of their quarterfinal showdown, with the winner advancing to face either Terrafirma or San Miguel.

The Elasto Painters forced a rubber match in their best-of-three quarterfinal series after defeating the Tropang Giga, 121-113.

Rain or Shine hopes to capitalize on a depleted TNT roster, with Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser now out for the season due to an ACL tear.

"When it comes to this situation, all teams have injury problems, little aches, and pains. We have some but nothing major… We try to play fast and put pressure for 48 minutes because we know Jayson and Kelly are also dealing with injuries," said Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao.
