TERRAFIRMA caught a big fish to its PBA 48th Season Philippine Cup campaign, beating Barangay Ginebra, 91-85, on Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Dyip leaned on Juami Tiongson and Javi Gomez de Liano to deliver only the second win in 23 games over the Gin Kings in franchise history, according to PBA statistics chief Fidel Mangonon.

Terrafirma also regained its winning ways to improve to 4-3 in what has already been a marked improvement for the ballclub from previous conferences, while also replicating its victory over Ginebra during the 2021 Philippine Cup bubble in Bacolor, Pampanga.

Ginebra faltered for the second straight time to even its record to 3-3.

Tiongson had 25 points including 16 in the first half, while Gomez de Liano made sure Terrafirma was able to sustain its play by chipping in 19 of his 22 points in the second half.

Stephen Holt had 12 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists for the Dyip as they atoned for their loss to Meralco last Wednesday.

Christian Standhardinger had 21 points and seven rebounds but didn’t see action in the fourth quarter. Japeth Aguilar had 18 points for Ginebra, which only led in the early goings of the game.
