TERRAFIRMA set a new PBA record on Friday after its win in the first game of the 50th Season Governors’ Cup.
The Dyip recorded 93 rebounds in their 113-100 win over Titan Ultra, smashing a 43-year PBA record, according to statistics chief Fidel Mangonon.
Terrafirma broke the record by six rebounds, erasing the 87 that Gilbey’s Gin, now Barangay Ginebra, set on June 25, 1983 during the Reinforced Conference when it defeated Toyota, 148-139.

Initially, the stats sheet showed 94 shortly after the game, but it was corrected to 93 following a review of the game, still a PBA record.
Terrafirma also collected 40 offensive rebounds, the second-best all-time, according to Mangonon, falling two shy of the record by Tanduay in its 121-97 win over Utex on November 15, 1980 during the All-Filipino Conference.
Leading the way in Terrafirma’s record-setting performance was Geo Chiu, who grabbed a career-high 23 rebounds in the contest.
Dyip import Justin Strings, meanwhile, produced 16 rebounds, while JM Bravo and Maverick Ahanmisi nearly breached the double-digit mark by hauling nine rebounds.
Didat Hanapi had seven rebounds, while Brent Paraiso and Joseph Eriobu grabbed six rebounds apiece.
And so for a change, a team more known for losing can have a PBA record it can truly be proud of.
