TERRAFIRMA kept its hopes alive for a quarterfinal berth after beating Macau, 102-84, on Saturday in the PBA 50th Season Commissioner's Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Dyip improved their win-loss record to 4-6 after pulling away in the fourth quarter against the hapless Black Knights to stay in contention for a playoff berth after breaking their six-game losing streak.
Already shorthanded with only nine players in the game, Macau even lost Damian Chongqui after leaving the venue early in the fourth quarter for reasons still undetermined as of posting time.
The Black Knights fell to 2-9.
Jerrick Ahanmisi had 29 points and eight assists, while Mubashar Ali had 24 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, and two blocks for the Dyip, who also got a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double from Geo Chiu.
Terrafirma outscored Macau, 24-7, in the fourth quarter when the Dyip capitalized on the Black Knights opting to bring out Jenning Leung, Ramon Cao, and Phoenix Shackelford.
“Sa practice naman, everyday, we keep on pushing the guys kasi for how many games, yung mga talo namin, yung iba doon, nag-relax kami,” said Terrafirma coach Ronald Tubid.
Cao had 27 points including 3-of-4 from fours for the Black Knights, who were only down by one point, 78-77, before the Dyip pullaway.
