TENSION rose on the San Miguel bench late in Game Two when Terrence Romeo earned the ire of team officials after getting ejected late in the 108-101 win over Magnolia in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Finals.
The San Miguel newcomer lost his cool after getting fouled by a pressing Magnolia guard Mark Barroca near mid-court, passing the ball to the referee with some force that he was slapped with a technical foul.
The T only riled the flamboyant guard who proceeded to complain to the referees even with teammates, coaches and team officials trying to pacify him.
He earned a second technical and was ejected.
“Nakakainis lang kasi alam ko nakikita naman niya [referee] eh, tapos pinasa ko lang ‘yung bola sa kanya, tapos tinechnical na kaagad niya ako,” Romeo told a handful of reporters inside the San Miguel locker room.
The drama didn't end there as SMB board of governor Robert Non clearly lost his cool, dishing off a mouthful while pushing the SMB guard towards the exits.
Asked about the incident, Romeo said, “Hindi ko alam, hindi ako nakinig.
Romeo, however, looked a lot calmer after a few minutes as he proceeded to eat his dinner inside the San Miguel locker room while waiting for the game to end.
“Move on na ako sa next game," he said.
