JAYSON Castro stamped his class as one of the best point guards in Asia when he captured a place in the All-Star Five at the end of the 2013 Fiba-Asia Championship.

Castro claimed the point-guard position in the ‘Mythical Five’ with Korea’s Kim Mingoo, Chinese-Taipei’s Lin Chih-chieh, and Iran’s Oshin Sahakian and Hamed Hadadi.

Hadadi was also named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Castro won the award over Mahdi Kamrany, who had been previously labeled by his head coach Mehmed Becirovic and teammates as the "best point guard in Asia."

The Mythical Five awardees each received a watch from tournament sponsor Tissot.

But Castro was quick to play down the individual award, saying he was a "team player" and the honor was a result of a team effort.

“I’m a team player,” Castro said. “Hindi ko iniisip 'yung individual award. Kung binigay, binigay. Salamat sa Fiba-Asia.”

Nevertheless, Castro was proud to be part of the elite group.

“Hindi ko inexpect na makakasama ako sa Mythical Five kaya sobrang proud ako,” said Castro. “Fiba-Asia ito eh. Achievement na ito.

"Pero hindi naman ito ako lang. Lahat kami. Kung hindi dahil sa kanila, hindi ko ito makukuha,” he added.
