EXPECT evergreens Asi Taulava and Cyrus Baguio to continue suiting up for NLEX once the PBA season resumes.
The two veterans were given contract extensions by the Road Warriors management, assuring that they will play at least one more conference should the league get to restart the Philippine Cup by October.
Both Taulava, 47, and Baguio, 40, were signed to contract deals until the end of December.
“December na lahat, pati Asi and Cyrus,” said NLEX assistance vice-president Ronald Dulatre in a short text message.
Initially, Taulava and Baguio were signed until June or by the end of the All-Filipino conference before the COVID-19 pandemic struck.
Retirement also beckons for the two champion players at the conclusion of the season.
Just two days ago, NLEX also secured the services of star playmakers Kiefer Ravena and Kevin Alas for the next three years by signing them to new deals, assuring them of retaining one of the league’s most promising backcourts.
Coach Yeng Guiao welcomes having the entire team back for what could possibly be the one and only conference to be held this year.
“Every day na ang practice namin with a complete team. Meron kaming morning session and may afternoon session,” he said.
“Araw-araw kaming ganun kasi solo naman namin yung gym,” added the champion coach, referring to the FCL Building, where the Road Warriors have been holding practices for a long time now.
