RAIN or Shine's 7-foot-3 import Bruno Sundov couldn't stop June Mar Fajardo on Saturday, but an overhanging rolling door at the Acropolis Gym finally did.
Petron's 6-10 rookie slotman was forced to skip practice on Monday when he accidentally hit his head on a partially open overhead rolling door in a hallway leading from the locker room to the Acropolis Gym court.
Fajardo suffered a cut on his forehead and had to be taken to the St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City. The wound didn't require stiches but the giant slotman was excused from practice.
“Di naman tinahi. Nilinis lang ng doktor tapos binigyan ako ng anti-tetanus na shot. Pero okay na ako mag practice bukas,” said the No. 1 pick overall when Spin.ph finally caught up with him after his treatment.
The Pinamungahan, Cebu native explained that he had just conferred with Petron assistant coach Biboy Ravenes inside the locker room when the incident happened.
He said the rolling door was completely closed on his way down to the dugout but was partially open on his way up to join the rest of the Boosters in practice.
“May pinapakita lang na play si coach Biboy (Ravanes) sa akin sa dugout, tapos nung paakyat na ako, di ko namalayan na nakababa pala yung rolling door kaya tumama yung noo ko,” Fajardo said.
The accident happened just two days after Fajardo's best game as a pro, where he scored 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds while going head to head against Sundov in a road game in Panabo city.
The import-less Boosters won the game, 87-79.
