ANTIPOLO – Marcio Lassiter shot the lights out in the first half, setting the tone for San Miguel's breezy 105-93 win over Meralco on Friday night in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center.
Lassiter scored 16 of his 25 points in the first half, when the Beermen pulled away for good on the way to their second win after a shock loss to Columbian in a horror start the season.
The Fil-American gunner went 5-of-9 from three-point land as the Beermen sent Meralco reeling to its second loss in three games.s.
June Mar Fajardo added 25 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks while Christian Standhardinger had 14 points and seven boards for the Beermen, who went on an 8-0 run in the second period for a 40-29 lead and never looked back.
San Miguel ended the first half with a 55-42 edge and led by as many as 22 points at one point.
“This is a confirmation that we are ready in this first conference,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria. “In our first game, we don’t know what condition we have. After our second game and now against Meralco, we are slowly in game shape.”
Nard Pinto topscored for Meralco with 13 points.
